Better bait
Your frozen bait will last longer and perform better if thawed slowly while still in the cooler. Bait trays are an effective way of accomplishing this.

Rocket launcher woes
Smaller craft with rocket launchers can have rods bounce out of their holder in rough conditions. To prevent this you can use bungee cords or create your own tie down with heavy leader and a large snap swivel.

Rod protection
If you are going to ride with your conventional rods pre rigged, wrap the line around the bottom of the reel and then back up the first eye. Secure the hook to the bracing on the back of the eye. This way if the lure bounces during travel it will hit the foam cushion on the rod instead of the rod itself.

Create you own bait slick
Poor a little menhaden oil into your running live well. As the water is circulated back out of the system it will create a slick that will attract predatory fish.

Bounce your live bait
Predatory fish go crazy for an injured bait fish. Before putting a live bait in the water, whack it on the gunwale to stun it. The erratic behavior will entice more strikes.
