The Kraken is a Japanese-built general cargo carrier constructed in 1987 that was sunk on January 20, 2017 as part of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Artificial Reef Program. It now lies in 140 feet of water with approximately 80 feet of relief (60 feet of clearance).

Survey data only 6 months after the reef was in place showed large populations of Red Snapper and Vermilion Snapper. Divers have also reported lots of Barracuda, Cobia, King Mackerel, and many species of jacks and groupers.
