Here we go my favorite time of year and right before I took off on vacation I was pretty busy already with god groups and great fishing.  The trips ranged from a guy's drinking trip with fishing rods to hunting down bonefish and permit.  The fishing has been solid the first week of October with the following going on: Out of The Ocean Reef Club my...

The weather for last 2 months has been spectacular! We have been lucky with low winds and plenty of fish. This past week the winds turned out of SW to West and made us work for our fish. The backcountry Species are Tarpon Snook Redfish and Trout. Anytime we are fishing the backcountry and can catch 3 of the 4 for a Slam is great we did It 4 times...

This morning I fished with Jake for a 6 hour charter.  Last time we fished Jan caught 11 bonefish!  Today we were looking for permit and some dinner.  The weather was perfect as it usually is in October and off we went.  The schools of migrating mullet were getting crushed we so made a detour and threw top water lures at the schools trying to land...

I wrapped up the month with three great guys Edward Gustavo and Samuel from Texas.  They wanted to catch anything and have a great time. Samuel started off by hooking a high flying tarpon but it came off.  We struggled to get lots of action so we went shark fishing and the guys all hooked up.  Very cool! Capt. Mo Estevez http://www.miamibonefishin...

After a nice vacation I was back to work with local client Arman.  Arman likes to catch dinner but conditions were right for a surprise so I took him to where we could accomplish both.  We had a steady stream of bent rods catching snappers and he quickly got his fill of fish dinner until his rod went off in a weird way.  Ha I knew it.  After a nic...

OFFSHORE- Good dolphin reports for those making it out over the past week. The best depth has continued to bounce around but 250-600' seems to be producing pretty consistent results. Most of the dolphin have been in open water or on current rips in small packs. Floating debris will hold them as well; but for the most part it will be smaller packs o...

Most of the dolphin have been in smaller packs in open water on current rips but a handful of reports of good sized schools as well on floating debris. Trolling bonita strips and s...

Today I had the pleasure of fishing with Aaron a few days before I headed off on vacation.  It is definitely starting to feel like fall with a bit cooler weather and less humidity plus signs of a few schools of mullet moving around.  I love it!  Anyway Aaron was armed with a fly rod and we got some shots at bones and eventually hooked up and lande...

I had the pleasure of fishing with Ron from Arizona for four days.  The plan was for Ron to catch his first bonefish and realize a dream of his after a friend told him how special bonefish were.  Well we spent four days bone fishing and it worked out pretty well.  Using a combination of live shrimp on a split shot and live shrimp on a jig to cover...

Wow wow wow!  What a way to end the month!  These last 7 days have been solid with just a slow trip mixed in.  We begin this week's report with Richard from TX and he wanted to target tarpon and snook.  This is tarpon season right?  I ask because we searched high and low on the oceanside flats for tarpon in their usual migration routes and it was...
