Ah sleep it’s what I live for. That and those soft chewy treats my mom pulls out of the pantry when I do a trick after bath time and simply for being a good boy (which is all the time if you ask me.) I lead a pretty basic life but that’s how I like […]

Overnight the few that were out had pretty good luck with the Walleye. Perch activity yesterday was decent for most especially when the sun came out. Our thinnest stretch of ice went from 15″ to 15.5″ when we checked it this morning. With the cold weather today and tonight I’m pretty sure it will hit […] The post February 16th 2024 first appeared...

We had no one on the lake overnight last evening so there is nothing to report. There were a couple of portable fishermen out but I have yet to hear from them. We checked the ice in the thinnest stretch that we have to cross to get out (that most of you already know about […] The post February 15th 2024 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fishing.

The night bite still continues for those that stay out. It’s somewhat slower than the last week but if you’re in the right place it’s good.  Daytime Perch activity has picked up; some decent-sized Perch are showing up more and more. Ice conditions are very slowly improving. Those who follow this report know we had […] The post February 14th 2024 f...

Overnight the rain changed to snow and we received an inch of snowfall. The cooler temperatures have now frozen the water on top of the ice. I think most of it will be frozen solid by the end of the day. From what I can see with the camera it’s looking pretty good that way. […] The post February 9th 2024 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fishing.

Winter doesn’t always evoke the warmest of feelings. If you’re a parent you might be in the heart of your busiest season. Extracurriculars homework help and juggling like the most talented magician ever. All this bustling doesn’t leave a whole lot of time to think about much less plan a romantic getaway. If you’re not […]

After dark yesterday it started raining and continued through the night.  I’m guessing we have received maybe a quarter to half an inch.  It will let up some and come back this afternoon before the winds switch and it starts turning colder. We will recheck ice depths tomorrow morning as we have lost some during […] The post February 8th 2024 first...

Today we are closing the access until Friday morning due to warm temps rain and strong SE winds until it passes.  Friday we will be checking ice conditions as it starts cooling down and getting things set up for the weekend. I’m confident that the ice will hold up through this. But how much it […] The post February 7th 2024 first appeared on Lybac...

Those out overnight had a good Walleye bite but most were under the slot from the reports. Perch activity was good for some and slow for others.  Today so far many ATV portables are out working the deeper water areas as far out as the Gravel and we’ll see what their reports are later.  With […] The post February 1st 2024 first appeared on Lyback's...

Yesterday afternoon when the sun came out and overnight for those that stayed in the rentals was good fishing. One rental during the afternoon from 1:00pm until 5:00pm when they left had a pail of nice Perch in the 10-12″ range and  C/R’d 5 Walleye.  Another rental overnight C/R’d 7 Walleye from the slot up […] The post January 31st 2024 first app...

The rentals out overnight had some pretty good fishing.  Lots of action for a couple and a little slower for one house. Many C/R Walleye over and under the slot with some “keepers”  too.  The day bite was quiet for Perch and most caught were small. The sun came out this afternoon and temps shot […] The post January 30th 2024 first appeared on Lyba...

In Minnesota the weather is always a conversation starter ender and everything in between. Why? Because here we get it all. Humidity you can cut with a knife freezing rain tornadoes below-zero temperatures hailstorms thundersnow hoarfrost (we had to look this one up – it’s when ice crystals form on surfaces FYI) and so much […]

Today  we checked ice depths and we gained a little less than an inch in most area’s. So now we have 10.5″-11″  in the thinner areas and 12″ on average and more in the rougher spots. (The thinner areas are what we have to cross to get out to the thicker ice.) So we are […] The post January 17th 2024 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fishing.

This morning when we checked ice depths we gain about another inch.  So now we are ranging from 9.5″ in the thinner areas to almost 11″ average on the rest.  Rougher ice areas are thicker but it doesn’t mean too much if there is thinner ice between them to shore I think our inch a […] The post January 16th 2024 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fishi...

This morning I went out and checked ice depths.  Our thinnest ice went from  6″ on Friday to about 8.5″.  Almost the same with our thicker ice. It went from and average of  7″-9″ on Friday to  9″- 10.5 ” this morning.  So we are making some headway on the main lake ice where we […] The post January 15th 2024 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fishing.

Today we checked more ice staked where our roads will be to some more areas.  So far we are at Pope’s Reef (East NW and NE side). Ray’s Reef (SE and NE sides)  Graveyard Reef SE East and NW sides.  NW towards Hennepin Island to the east side of Tullibee Hole West from shore […] The post January 10 2024 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fishing.

Today we checked more ice staked what will be a road to North Twin Island. tomorrow we will go farther but we got thru the troubled areas where there was only 3″-4″.  We flooded those spots and will do more tomorrow.  So far we are still on track for opening for portable fishing starting Thursday.  […] The post January 9th 2024 first appeared on L...

Today we went and checked ice. With the new snow cover (approximately  of 2″) it was much harder to check in the new ice areas of week ago so it took more time.  We established and marked the Graveyard Road the road to the NE side of Pope’s Reef on the deeper side And our […] The post January 8th 2024 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fishing.

This morning I walked out and checked the ice in front of us.  The first 100 yard was 8-10″ thick. pretty much the same as it was almost two weeks ago but it was softer. after this warm weather.  The stretch of clear ice beyond that towards Gull Reef that had refroze a week ago […] The post January 3rd 2024 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fishing.
