Yesterday I made my last trip out on the ice to cover the areas we normally go for leftover blocks and whatever was left out there that shouldn’t be.  Due to the workers this year picking up all the blocking and chains sawing it out right away after the house was pulled off it’s spot […] The post April 14th 2023 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fish...

The melt is on up here….. finally.  the last couple days have be approaching 70 degrees and things are going fast. We went out yesterday and picked up the road stakes.  Most were standing and melted around the base so it was easy to grab them and go the problem was that there was a […] The post April 11th 2023 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fishin...

Today I took down the signs along the driveway and new office and got ready for the next batch of snow.  We are forecasted to receive 4-6 inches and very strong north winds the next 36 hours.  So March came in like a Lion and is going out like one too. Earlier in the week […] The post March 30th 2023 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fishing.

After the snow and wind we received yesterday and today I have decide to permanently close our access for the season.  We received 6″ of snow very strong NW winds which blew the snow our direction.  What roads I did have are now only distinguishable by the  stakes on the one side of them. As […] The post March 17th 2023 first appeared on Lyback's...

Yesterday I went out and opened up the roads.  There is just a lot of snow out there.  Some areas on the main roads I had going all winter and had alot of ice under them had water along bank and had to move over closer to the stakes. With the rain/snow forecasted Thursday-Friday  (4-6″) […] The post March 15th 2023 first appeared on Lyback's Ice F...

We temporarily closed our access on Saturday.  We received 10-12″ of snow over the weekend  and our access to the lake remains closed for now. Tuesday I plan on going out and seeing if it’s going to be worth the effort and gas to reopen the roads as it looks like more snow coming the […] The post March 13th 2023 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fish...

Yesterday the anglers that went out did not have much action.  Perch were mostly small and no Tullibees were reported. With the predicted 5-8′ of snow   we opened up the roads before so whatever we get won’t be as bad to plow.  With the forecasted east wind it goes against the “grain” with the way […] The post March 11th 2023 first appeared on Lyb...

Yesterday fishermen that went out for the Tullibee did not have any luck. One said he didn’t even mark a fish.  Sorta of strange as last week the bottom was crawling with lake flies in the  bug stage of their life.  Normally that attracts Perch and Tullibee because of they are easy food. But who […] The post March 10th 2023 first appeared on Lybac...

Yesterday we reopened roads to the Perch Northern Pike areas  and to the Tullibee Hole. We have wheelhouse spots plowed for those that want to go out along and road are wide enough for parking if you are portabling. We are to receive some snow over the next 4 days but will keep the […] The post March 9th 2023 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fishing...

Yesterday quite a few anglers showed up and gave the Perch and Tullibee a try.  The nicer sized Perch were active in the early morning and late afternoon and the midday was slow with just  small Perch that were active.  The Tullibees seemed to be none existent out in the Tullibee Hole yesterday but a […] The post March 5th 2023 first appeared on L...

Yesterday fishermen that I did talk to when they left had action in the morning but in the afternoon it slowed.  So far today there has been 6 groups go out with those that were out overnight in the Tullibee Hole.  Some Northern Pike fishermen were out in wheelhouses the last couple days but haven’t […] The post March 4th 2023 first appeared on Ly...

Yesterday I opened up the roads to Perch Tullibee and  Northern Pike areas for customers.  We had two wheelhouses go out but i haven’t heard any reports this morning.  Three other portables went out this morning so we’ll see how they do. Weather wise  it looks like a good weekend to get out as  late […] The post March 3rd 2023 first appeared on Ly...

This afternoon as fishermen left there were mixed reports for Walleye.  Mostly small ones were C/R.  Eelpout  or Burbot are spawning and everyone C/R some.  The highlight was the Perch in shallow water. Some anglers did very well with “keepers” and that bodes well for the couple weeks if the ice holds up.  Tullibee were […] The post February 25th...

Fishermen yesterday didn’t really get out until  mid-afternoon to their rentals and most of the wheelhouses were out by mid afternoon also. The evening rounds when we talked to them there was mostly Perch action.  This morning there has been quite  portable fishermen showing up as the weather is suppose to be nice. I plan […] The post February 25t...

Yesterday after the winds died we went out and reopened the main roads. We only received about 6-8″ of snow here where 20 miles South and 20 miles NE of us they received 12-16″.  So we are pulling out the confirmed rentals we had prior and two extra deluxe houses for the weekend.  The weather […] The post February 24th 2023 first appeared on Lybac...

Yesterday and overnight the fishing action picked up some.  I received some nice C/R pictures from a few anglers.  Also yesterday the Perch picked up with some nicer ones caught in shallower water. The weather forecast is still showing a very significant  snow storm arriving late Tuesday thru Thursday.  Snow depths are estimated from 8-12″  […] Th...

The bite for the Walleye has been mostly at night for most anglers. Deeper rocks and shallow reefs both.  Perch are active all day in most areas but you have to pick thru them to get the 10″plus keepers.  Overall it has been a quiet week. After watching and checking with 3 different weather sites […] The post February 17th 2023 first appeared on L...

Last evening the sprinkles quit by about 3:00 am and turned to snow briefly until daylight when the wind picked up from the NW.  For awhile I thought we would have enough snow to bank houses with the drifting but that didn’t last long.  We didn’t receive anything close to what was predicted for rain […] The post February 15th 2023 first appeared o...
