When the calendar switched to April the fishing instantly improved. March was a bit of a struggle but the water temperature has been in the sixties continuously for a couple of weeks and the fish are getting acclimated to it. I did two trips Monday and we landed 37 total with 9 fish over 4 pounds. The shallow bite is the dominant pattern now. Our best baits are soft plastics in 1-3 feet in the coves and bays where spawning activity is observed. If the weather will cooperate we will see bluegill and shad spawning in the coming weeks which can provide excellent fishing.
