On the panga Dos Hermanos. All photos this week are with Adolfo
Offshore (average) surface water temperature-
Includes from the 5 to 6 mile mark at the 100 fathom line, then to the 1,000 fathom line being about 32 miles: Exactly the same as the last several weeks.
83°
Inshore (average) surface temperature
. From the beach to about 5 miles: About
80°
Blue water:
(Chlorophyll amounts and surface temps from Terrafin SST) Clean from the beach to out past 30 miles.
Offshore:
I talked to Adolfo, on the panga Dos Hermanos. He said the action offshore is fantastic. There are striped marlin, blue marlin, and yellowfin tuna, all no further than the 15 mile mark. But other than the commercial pangas, having a great season, there are no clients for the sport fishing boats.
Adolfo and a nice yellowfin tuna
I also saw Noe, on the panga Porpy one morning. He was geared up for some heavy action. I asked him if he had a client to go for tuna. He told me he has had no clients, but is catching tuna to 200 pounds and only about 14 miles out. He is selling the tuna, and doing well. Noe is a bit gruff, but has taken over the vacant spot of being the best for tuna here, since Luis Maciel, on the panga Gringo Loco passed away a few years back.
Inshore:
With few clients, Adolfo is finding large jack crevalle on the beaches, and a few roosters. But again, he has had few clients.
