Any bite we had was pretty much restricted to 3" black and silver chatters........

Took a few days off to head to "Cottage Country" and Moon Basin Marina in the lower  Georgian Bay region of Ontario.   Had a bit of rain on Tuesday night and then really nice weather for the rest of our trip. Jack ended up with his biggest pike to date (24") and Lisa got a smallmouth that we estimated to be pushing 4lbs!  Like much of the NE the w...

JULY 21 After our break at Moon River got right back on Lake Erie today.   Skip (and Charlie) are our longest returning group and it was nice to see that the lake was going to be nice for Skip.  We'll leave the Charlie part alone Plan was to head west again but Capt. Bud (Alibi) gave us a call as we headed out the chute and said the strong NE wind...

Headed back out with Jay and Clem for our afternoon trip.  Little bit of roll leftover from mid-day and the threat of t-storms over shore which fortunately never made it offshore. Got into a few fish right away including a couple of walleye pushing 10lbs and 2 football browns!                          So the question onboard was who had the bigger...

Another great day on the water.    Lots of breeze coming off shore to start the day but laid down really nice as the morning progress. Boated 14 more walleye plus a laker and a brown trout and a sheepshead for Jay!                                                                             The turtle blade 10 color was good early then we switched...

Got out on the 12th for a charter.   Very nice (but hot) day on the lake.   Had a pretty good early bite for walleye but then that kind of died for us.   Ended up getting going on trout though which was a nice surprise! Boated what we believe to be a true Lake Erie slam!   Walleye steelhead brown trout and lake trout!   Biggest laker was pushing 1...

A double first for us today.... First trip with only one angler and first true "double" trip. Brian did a great job and was able to land his first Lake Erie Walleye!!                 Couple of shots on the 10 color down the chute with a watermelon turtle blade the 125 and 145 slide divers were good the riggers with the VQ Goby WD spoon was our bes...

Well after our gamble for big fish failed on Day 1 Day 2 became all about having a good day to get our mojo back.   Fortunately Mother Nature cooperated! We landed 13 walleye and 4 nice lake trout plus the usual mix of silver bass sheep and perch.                   As was the case on Saturday a very late bite today.   We had 4 fish in the box at n...

Headed out on Friday with Gerb and my son to do a little bit of scouting and to pre-fish for the Ameracan.   Knew we had some fish not to far from the harbor but were looking for bigger fish.   Of course since we were looking for walleye we hooked into a very nice Lake Erie Brown Trout!                          Also picked up a few walleye and the...

Very warm day on the lake today!   Lots of those little bugs and no breeze to speak of for the first few hours.   Whew! Slow steady bite today and we finally got a few larger fish at the end  plus a couple of bonus lake trout.                                             Our best was a 3" perch chatterstick off a 40 jet 175 back.   Took 2 on a VQ G...

FINALLY after trying most of the week we were able to get a trip in! Wasn't really sure what to expect after the big winds of most of this week. Started off a little slow but it cranked up pretty quick with a pair of triples.              We boated 16 walleye one perch and the usual quantity of silver bass. Best for us today was 40 jets with eithe...

The storms and cold front that blew in late Sunday night have still not settled out. Beautiful sunrise this morning at 5:30 revealed a rough lake and the fact we'd be parked again today.   Felt really bad about this as my guys have been here for two days and have yet to touch the boat!                          NOAA still has 10-20 mph in for tomor...

Only had a couple of hours to fish today so off we went with Capt. Gary and Jack. Took a sheepshead then a smallmouth setting up followed by a couple of silver bass. Had the 30 jet go hard in 55 fow thought for a minute we had hooked bottom but instead had a nice fat brown trout....pushing 10lbs!                        Kind of cool for Jack as he...

Took Jack up to Cassadaga Lake (small inland lake in our area) today to participate in the Lew Mead Kid's tournament.     Lots of small sunnies and perch but nothing big enough to put Jack in the running for prizes.                     After playing well into the evening last night to finish up his baseball season he was up bright and early to get...

Headed out today with Gerb Marty and Matt.  Pretty slow bite.  Got a couple right off the bat then worked pretty hard for the next one.  First one came on a 5 color/renosky setup next two were 110 and 115 on the big slide diver on 3" black and silver chattersticks    Went out this evening with Gerb and Jack for perch.  Didn't get going until after...

Well ran our first trip of the year today.    Reports from all that we talked to showed it to be really slow today.   Not a huge surprise as the lake temps are running about 59 on the surface at Dunkirk AND it's only June 10th!! Nonetheless we got 4 nice ones today plus a few bonus perch which seemed to be as good as anyone today.   Also ran into...

Wow!  Just back from our annual pike trip to French River Ontario.   Always great to see our friends Chris Kris from N.C. Mac from KY.  Our rookie this year was Marty   whom some of you may know from mating on the boat.   Also got to spend time with my brother Lukas.                            Weather was super...it rained overnight 1 night and it...

40 Degrees in Western New York on the 26th of December??!   No snow on the ground and trout in the streams..... So off Jack and I went to fish with our friend Marty (www.canadawaycreekoutfitters.com) and his son Ethan on a local tributary.   Between the 4 of us we had 7 or 8 hookups with Marty landing a couple of steelhead.   Jack hooked up 3 time...

Despite the threat of heavy weather coming later in the day and snow in the forecast for overnight for really the first time all year today was another great December day!   Light rain no wind and low 40's again so Jack and I decided to take about a mile and an half walk down a local tributary. I hooked up with a nice fish and handed that off to J...

Another 45 degree December day....we're starting to get spoiled!   Got a call from Marty (Canadaway Creek Outfitters) who said that the creek looked good and he was going to head out to check it out.   Jack and I got our gear and joined up with him just after he hooked fought and broke off a 30" steelie! Although the creek was running a bit faster...
