July 21 and 22

JULY 21
After our break at Moon River, got right back on Lake Erie today.   Skip (and Charlie) are
our longest returning group, and it was nice to see that the lake was going to be nice for
Skip.  We'll leave the Charlie part alone

Plan was to head west again, but Capt. Bud (Alibi) gave us a call as we headed out the
chute and said the strong NE winds the last few days (while we were gone) had pushed the
cold water west, so he suggested we head east.  We were very thankful for that tip!

Took the first 3-4 walleye way out of temperature, and picked up a really nice steelhead
that weighed in on the boat scale at just over 13lbs.   Not positive, but I think that may
be the biggest steelie we've put in on Lake Erie.

Worked out way farther east, and farther out, and finally found some good temps.
Finished up boating 14 walleye, plus the steelhead, on a beautiful lake!

Honestly, a little bit of everything worked, but especially early it was the 10 color
down the chute with a watermelon turtle blade harness.   Took 1 walleye and
the steelie off a small watermelon contender spoon we were given to try; and
another off our favorite WD Green Melon.   Big slides on 3" black/silver chatters;
and also the perch 3" off 40 jets.   And throw in one off the 30 jet on a chicken
wing hatchet blade harness.

JULY 22
The reddish sky at dawn this morning should have been the warning!

Started out a bit west of yesterday's numbers, and got two small walleye fairly
quickly.   Then a long dry spell under building seas before we got #3 in the box.
Dropped our largest fish behind the boat, and then decided to pull the plug around
10:30.   Disappointing for us to have to quit, but it was the right move.   We had
first timers today, and it sure would have been nice to be able to give them the full
day.

Off for a few days now....gotta work sometime!
