The weather report indicated poor weather offshore so we stayed closer to Santa Cruz for a local rockcod trip. Nailed six limits of blues olives and reds. Dropped a couple lingcod. Weather was nice! The post August 27 appeared first on Monterey Bay and Santa Cruz Fishing Charters.

Nice weather today for our local rockfish trip. Was slow at first then after an hour or so the bite went wide open! Lost a few lings in the melee too 🙁 Came home with five limits of blues and olives. Half the blues were pretty big too. The post August 26 appeared first on Monterey Bay and Santa Cruz Fishing Charters.

Local rockcod trip today. With the impending effects from storm Hilary catching close to shore was slow (too much ground swell). Out to the deep reef shelf today and as soon as we dropped in our lines we had four rods go off with big yellowtail. Dropped back in for more and got a few more then the current came and the bite simply died. Drove around testing other fishing spots but the raging current was […] The post August 4 appeared first on Monterey Bay and Santa Cruz Fish...

Out to the deep again but this time the catch was difficult. Probably caused by the full moon and the ripping current. Got some fish but not enough of a bite so came in closer and picked up some lingcod and a few more rockfish. Lot of miles today and some quality fish.
