Today will be our last vehicle and wheelhouse traffic day through our access. The sun and warm temperatures over the previous few days have softened the top few inches of ice. Fishermen reported that the first 4-6 inches of ice are partially honeycombed and then they hit 24″ plus of good hard ice.  But with […] The post March 9th 2025 first appear...

Yesterday we went and checked out the ice and most of the water that was on top refroze.  Along the roadbanks there is water that is not frozen solid so it should be avoided but the rest is pretty good going. One fisherman out yesterday tried numerous spots deep and shallow for perch and found […] The post March 7th 2025 first appeared on Lyback's...

The last couple of days with a bit of snow a lot of wind and temperatures cooling down it looks like most everything froze except for the road banks where it is layered. Our access is still in good shape but the warmer temperatures over the weekend will soften things up out there. We will […] The post March 6th 2025 first appeared on Lyback's Ice...

After today we will be closing down our access for the next few days. Tuesday through Thursday could bring rain snow and strong winds. After that we’ll see what it looks like out there and decide if we will be open for the weekend.  Keep watching the report. Reports from fishermen over the weekend said […] The post March 3rd 2025 first appeared on...

Today a few anglers went out early and tried for Perch and Tullibee with little success I presume. They left the ice about lunchtime.  One group is still out in the basin SW of Spider so we will see if they report later. It has been cold enough at night that the water on top […] The post February 27th 2025 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fishing.

Not too much happening out there the last two days.  A few went out but not much luck with the Perch.  Lots of smalls in the deep water the shallow basins had better size.  It’s getting pretty wet everywhere now with the melting during the day. And with the weather forecast of very strong NW […] The post February 26th 2025 first appeared on Lyback...

Well it’s over.  The Walleye season ended February 23rd at midnight.  Sunday and Monday were spent getting houses staged on the roads and pulled into the storage lot . By the end of today all the houses will be in will off the ice. The last Walleye weekend fishermen had mixed results. Mostly small Perch […] The post February 25th 2025 first appear...

Our rentals went out overnight yesterday afternoon and they had some good action.  After lunch the bite picked up until dark. It was pretty quiet overnight but the bite picked up again at daybreak. I think that with the weather warming up for the weekend it will improve even more.  After seeing some of the […] The post February 18th 2025 first app...

Over the weekend the bite was pretty quiet for the larger Walleye. Some areas were pestered with smalls but some slots were caught Friday night and Saturday morning.  Saturday evening and Sunday when the cold front came through just about everything shut off.  Some fishermen in the shallow basins had some decent Perch and some […] The post Februar...

The Walleye bite has picked up some in the last couple of days with the brief warm-up and barometer change. Still the best times are early morning until daybreak and the late afternoon until dusk.Keeper Perch are starting to be caught in shallower basins but still no sign of larger Perch in the Tullibee Hole […] The post February 15th 2025 first a...

The Walleye bite has been mainly at dusk hours and early morning at sunrise for the last couple of days.  Over the weekend many went out in the mud areas in front of us looking for Perch.  When they found the schools with cameras the greater majority of them were small with very few schools […] The post February 11th 2025 first appeared on Lyback'...

The last couple of days’ weather changes gave some fishermen in the right spot the opportunity to catch some nice Walleye. I received numerous pictures which I will post on our Facebook page of 19″- 26″ Walleye and Northern Pike.  Most of the deeper water areas had a lot of small Walleye and I pulled […] The post February 8th 2025 first appeared o...

Overnight we received about 2″ of snow and this morning the WNW wind picked up and visibility went to almost zero for a while. Those out overnight reported when the winds shifted. Fishermen reported action but mostly all smalls. Some fishermen set up for Northen Pike C/R a 35″ plus and lost five decoy-sized suckers […] The post February 6th 2025 f...

Over the weekend there were mixed reports as fishermen spread out looking for Perch in the mud basins in front of us with mixed results. Some were finding them and some were not. One fisherman reported seeing four Northern Pike two muskellunge Walleye and Perch on their camera over the day in 36 feet of […] The post February 3rd 2025 first appeare...

Yesterday the bite during the day was steady with small perch and walleye for most of the time. Some fishermen worked in some of the basins in the mud for perch but not many found the “Jumbos.” There were a couple here and there but no real numbers. Overnight the Walleye action was best in […] The post February 1st 2025 first appeared on Lyback's...

The night bite for Walleye is picking up this week. Reports of Walleye being C/R in the 20″-26″ range.  Daytime Perch action is also picking up in the basin areas. Some nice-sized ones are being caught.  In shallower there are still a lot of smalls but more and more 10″ plus are showing up.  It’s […] The post January 31st 2025 first appeared on Ly...

Yesterday overnight fishing was what I call “spotty.”  Most did not have too much for action although the Small Perch and Walleye were hitting this morning. What pictures did I receive over the slot C/R Walleye? The majority were from 18 ft of water and less.  Some fishermen were looking for Perch in the mud […] The post January 25th 2025 first ap...

According to reports the bite has been slow for most of the last two days. There are still lots of small Perch and Walleye. Keeper Perch is starting to show up in the catches in spots but the larger Walleye are tough to get. It’s close to the time of year when some of the […] The post January 24th 2025 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fishing.

Yesterday and overnight there were mixed reports from those out there. Some did not have too much action and some C/R over the slot Walleye. With the weather changes coming the bite will improve over time.  We have been moving some rentals into new areas and will see what happens. We still have two 4-person […] The post January 22nd 2025 first app...

Yesterday the NW wind picked up through the afternoon and by dusk it was blowing enough to loosen up what snow was out there and start drifting some. There were some visibility issues for a while but that didn’t last long. This morning when I went out at 4:00 a.m. to check the roads and […] The post January 18th 2025 first appeared on Lyback's Ice...
