Fishing on Buggs Island Kerr Lake should be good today. Remember that holiday boat traffic may increase as the day progresses. The best fishing opportunities will likely be early in the morning or later in the evening when there’s less recreational activity on the water. Good luck and tight lines!

Lots of bass are caught on spinnerbaits on shallow points with flooded bushes. Bass may be caught shallow in 2-3 feet of water medium in 5-6 feet of water or by fishing deep in 11-12 feet of water. Shallow fish are holding in backs of pockets on rockpiles or on dropoffs near flooded buckbrush. Use […]

The southern coves midlake are holding hundreds of baitfish in huge schools. Bass are not agressive in these coves. Check out coves on the Northern side of the lake off creeks and around bridges. Best patterns are buckbrush; chunk rock banks dropping off into 10 feet of water; secondary rocky points; and wood cover midway […]

The cooler temperatures are sending the fish on the feed as the water temperatures begin to drop and baitfish school up and head for the backs of creeks. As the water cools look for all species of fish to begin taking faster moving baits such as crankbaits and spinnerbaits. Next week should signal the start […]

Bass action is fair to good on spinnerbaits and live shad in 6-8 feet of water off points. Crappie are taking small minnows over creek channels and brushpiles particularly in Rudd’s Butcher Panhandle and Grassy Creeks. A fair number of large bass are taking Rat-L-Traps in the back of creeks particularly on NE banks.

Bass fishing is fair with small fish being taken on jig ‘n pig and crankbaits in 6-12 feet of water on points. The larger fish are halfway back in the coves feeding in late afternoon and evening. Slow-rolled spinnerbaits are taking some good bass from riprap throughout the lake. Rat-L-Traps are also taking some fish. […]

Striper fishing is good with live bait and 3/8 ounce bucktails producing the better catches. Largemouth bass are favoring the main lake gravel points and may be caught on 10+ crankbaits in shad colors. Crappie are holding above brushpiles in 10-15 feet of water.

Overview: (skip below to view report) The warmer temperatures after the freeze have not stopped the fish from biting but freezing temperatures will return soon so beware. Some anglers are still taking fish daily from a limited number of haunts throughout the lake. Small plastic grubs liberally doused with fish attractants are taking the fish […]

Overview: (skip below to view report) Even with the cold weather coming in throughout the area anglers should still be able to catch fish. Look for bass to become active on shallow banks dropping off into deeper water. This should happen in the afternoon when the sun has been warming the water on the shallow […]

Overview: (skip below to view report) With water temperatures getting low the fish are holding in the normal wintertime haunts in deep water. Lots of good fish are being taken throughout the state by anglers who are patient. Plastic baits fished at the base of channel dropoffs or on shallow gravel banks dropping off into […]

Overview: (skip below to view report) Most gamefish are holding in deeper water during this season of the year. Unless there is a warm water discharge in the vicinity the fish will be deep and very sluggish. They will not move far or fast to feed and successful anglers know that small baits fished very […]
