I know the picture does not show a big fish or even a lot of fish but rather a perfectly sunny day with little wind. This day was the exception to be sure for this spring. Most days have been cold, wet and windy. Still, we have arrived at the magic time for our freshwater lakes and ponds. Water temperatures are right around 60 degrees and smallmouth bass have started to spawn with fish actively defending their beds.
