Crystal River Fishing

Crystal River Fishing

Crystal River is a coastal city in Florida known for good fishing opportunities. You may even spot manatees if you visit in the winter because hundreds of manatees gather around the warm springs in Crystal River. The winter water isn't cold here like it is in many areas, which is what attracts not only the manatees, but also lots of fish from the Gulf of Mexico where the water becomes cold. This is one of many reason fishing Crystal River is great all year round.

An abundance of fish is available near the shore in Crystal River, making it a great place for inshore fishing. You can catch both saltwater and freshwater fish in Crystal River. Common species include Sheepshead, Redfish, Largemouth Bass, Snook, and Spotted Seatrout. There is also good Bluefish, Flounder, Pompano, and Crevalle Jack fishing.

Nearshore you might catch Barracuda, Cobia. King Mackerel, or Spanish Mackerel if you're lucky. Plenty of other fish species live in the nearshore waters of Crystal River too, including Grunts, Triggerfish, Snappers, and Groupers. Mangrove Snapper, Vermilion Snapper, Gag Grouper, and Red Grouper are the most common of the bottom species. For those who venture way offshore Mahi-mahi and a few Blackfin Tuna are possible.
