Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
Dauphin Island may be part of Mobile's metropolitan area, but there is something special about this township. Dauphin Island is not a typical suburb. The city is actually located on a barrier island just off the coast of Alabama. This small island has big offerings. With attractions like the Dauphin Island Sea Lab and The Estuarium aquarium, it is clear that the water is important here. Dauphin Island fishing is definitely a part of that.
Dauphin Island is perfectly situated as an inshore fishing paradise. There is a long stretch of coastline to utilize, and the fish are quite active at all times of the year. Although you can catch a variety of fish here, the most coveted inshore offering is Redfish. Another popular fish caught at inshore venues is Speckled Trout and Flounder.
As a barrier island, Dauphin Island also offers nearshore fishing. If you are interested in Dauphin Island fishing nearshore, then bring your boat or get a charter. The nearshore reefs and wrecks are alive with local fish populations. Here, you might bring in King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, Red Snapper, or many varieties of Grouper. One of the most common fish in these waters is Grey Triggerfish and many different species of Snapper. During certain seasons, you can expect to bring home quite a few in your daily haul.
If you are interested in Dauphin Island fishing, then you may desire a trip farther out into the Gulf of Mexico. This is quite possible, and there are numerous charter companies that can help you make that dream come true. Your efforts are likely to be rewarded. Offshore fishing in Dauphin Island can be quite bountiful. With some luck, you could reel in Amberjack, Mahi-mahi and Wahoo. Further out there is a good chance at tuna and marlin. These big game fish can be hard to find in vast, deep waters, but many anglers have great luck at Dauphin Island.
