Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
Key Biscayne is a small island located off the coast of Miami, Florida. The Tequesta people were the first known inhabitants of Key Biscayne, and the island was later used by Spanish explorers and pirates as a base for their operations in the area. During the 1800s, Key Biscayne was used primarily for farming and fishing. The northern two-thirds of the island used to be a coconut plantation in the 1900s and was the largest of its kind in the continental US at the time. In 1940, the owners of the plantation donated over 800 acres to Dade County with an agreement that the county would build a causeway to the island. Dade County used the 800 acres to build Crandon Park. Today, Key Biscayne is a popular destination for relaxing and other recreational activities like fishing.
