Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
Lake Guntersville, fed by the Tennessee River and many creeks, is Alabama's largest lake at 69,100 acres. It is 75 miles (121 km) long, running from Guntersville Dam to Nickajack Dam. With over 949 miles of shoreline, it is best known for excellent Largemouth Bass fishing, but also contains Black Crappie, Smallmouth Bass, Spotted Bass, Striped Bass, White Bass, and several species of bream and catfish.
No one can argue that Lake Guntersville is consistently one of the best bass fishing lakes in the country. Every year, it produces many Largemouth Bass exceeding 10 pounds and countless ones in the 3 to 7 pound range. The official lake Largemouth Bass record is a 14.50 pound hog caught on Feb. 21, 1990. The lake record Smallmouth Bass is a 5.85 pounder that was caught near the dam in 2010. The lake also holds many Spotted Bass up to 5 pounds.
Some of the best bass fishing on Lake Guntersville can be found in the creeks, such as North and South Sauty, Siebold Creek, Brownβs Creek and Town Creek. With numerous bridges around the lake, working funnel areas can also be productive. There are also many grass flats with small ledges that produce bass most of the year.
