Galveston Fishing Report – Trophy Bull Red Special

Galveston Bull Red

This fishing report for Galveston has been superb.  Bull Red Fish are here and spawning activity is in full swing.  Tides have been high, east winds have been blowing, and this means one thing… it is time to catch a trophy Bull Red… or what we like to call them – RedDragons!  We are mainly fishing the Galveston Jetty area, and using fresh shad, mullet, sand trout, fresh crab or croakers to slam these beasts.  Fishing in 25 to 35 foot of water along the bottom in areas with good current flow is best.  Throughout the month of October and November, we are running a four hour Bull Red Special $450 for three people!  Add $50 for each additional up to six people max.  Also, additional time can be added.

Speckled Trout & Slot Reds

The speckled trout and slot red bite has been good along the jetties as well… when the winds let the clarity get right.  The water clarity can go from dirty sandy, which is good for Bull Reds to green in only 12 to 24 hours.  When this happens, the speckled trout and slot red bite is excellent.  Big Specks are being caught on live shrimp and croakers.  Slot reds are being caught on live mullet, and shrimp.

Galveston Bay & Marsh

The Bay and Marsh fishing has been good the past couple of weeks for those looking for a nice secluded day

on the water.  Slot redfish, speckled trout, puppy drum, and flounder are being caught in the back lakes and bays.  We are using live shrimp, mullet, and shad on these trips.

Galveston Flounder Gigging

High Tides and East winds have made our flounder gigging charters almost non existent.  It is very frustrating as an avid flounder gigging guide when conditions are like this during October each year.  We wish Texas Parks and Wildlife would recognize that Mother Nature takes care of the flounder, and let us gig in November again…  Until that day which will most likely never come – we will continue to wait on Mother Nature to deal us a hand that will let us get out and see some bay bottom and hunt flounder.

Give us a call to get out on the water.  It is a great time of year to fish in Galveston, and the absolute best time of year to catch a trophy red fish.  Get in on our Bull Red Special Today!  409-739-8526
