Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
The bite here in palm coast has been great! With lots of variety of fish to target, this is a great time to get out on the water. The redfish bite has been great early in the morning on artificial or topwater plugs, also on low tide targeting creek holes has been a productive way to catch reds. With water temps in the 80s in the flats the snook have been very active, topwater or artificial swimbaits can be a great way to target these guys also. Lots of my fly fishing anglers have been enjoying catching some nice snook on the long rod, black and purple sliders or light colored baitfish patterns are great options for snook this time of year.
One of my favorite fish to target is juvenile tarpon these acrobatic fish put on a great show when hooked jumping and doing flips its quite the performance! Targeting juvenile tarpon we typically start early in the morning as these fish roll when the water is calm and the sun is low. Using a trolling motor we quietly scan the surface for rolling fish, ready with a light tackle spinning rod or a fly rod we are prepared to make a quick cast to a fish. Last but not least the flounder bite still continues to be good with lots of fish in the creeks. A 1/4oz jighead with a shrimp or mud minnow is a great way to target flounder.
