As we settle deeper into the winter fishing season, the patterns on Lake Guntersville have stabilized, offering excellent opportunities for both bass and crappie anglers.

Bass Fishing Update

Despite the colder weather, the bass have been surprisingly active, providing plenty of action for those who brave the elements. On recent outings, we’ve been averaging around 30 bass per day, a testament to the productive conditions on the lake. The bass we’ve been catching are not only plentiful but also of great quality, with the biggest weighing in at an impressive 6 pounds. The average catch size has been a solid 4 pounds, making every trip exciting. Focus your efforts on deeper structure, grass edges, and slower presentations to mimic the natural forage during this season. Jigs, jerkbaits, and lipless crankbaits have been performing particularly well.

Crappie Fishing Update

The crappie fishing has been equally rewarding. These fish have been biting consistently, offering a steady bite throughout the day. The crappie we’re catching are not just numerous but also great in size, perfect for those looking to fill a cooler or enjoy some fun light-tackle action. Whether you’re using live minnows or jigs, staying near submerged structures and brush piles has been the key to success.

Now is an excellent time to hit the water, as the winter patterns are delivering solid action for both bass and crappie anglers alike. Whether you’re targeting trophy bass or looking to fill your limit of crappie, Lake Guntersville is proving once again why it’s a top destination for winter fishing adventures!
