We're done with Summer! August 16-31 2025

 | By Seamus on 8/31/2025 5:50:00 PM | Views (3)

With the closing out of August we bid farewell to summer in Miami.  While it will still be warm during the first week or two of September, I can't complain about August as it has been a solid month of great fishing.  We wrapped up the last half of August on a high note.  My first trip of the second half of the month had us losing a big permit early morning which was a hear breaker but we still had a couple of weeks to make up for it.  I have snook fished a bit but my attention has been focused on bonefish and permit plus a few "let's catch anything" fun trips.  There have been plenty of lady fish around and a few sea trout which is a great sign as the sea trout fishing in the bay has been severely lacking the last few years.  There have been plenty of permit around and the bonefishing has been solid, especially on calm mornings. In those calm mornings we have done really well, with Brett and his cousin each landing 3 bonefish, Nikko and James each landing two and to wrap it up with some diversity, Duff from the U.K. landed a solid snook, hooked 5 tarpon and landed one plus we had a few shots at bonefish.  I've also noticed mullet starting to show up in small schools signaling that the fall mullet run usually commencing by mid September may be arriving a bit early.  It's' been a great month and September should add even more variety.
