Fishing Forecast for North Carolina from July 16 – 21st

 | By xfernal on 7/15/2012 12:00:00 AM | Views (3818)

As we move into the new moon phase this week, our daytime fishing should pick up. If I could only fish 1 time this week, it would beThursday between 5 and 8 AM or 6 till 9 PM. Alternatively, 5 AM till 8 AM onWednesday or 6 till 9 PM Friday. Depending on weather conditions and thechanges in sea surface temperature, Wednesday- Friday should be the peakfishing for this month.

Piers and Surf

From the piers and surf, you should catch bluefish, croaker, flounder, sea mullet, and spots. Live mullet, menhaden, or shrimp will work best. Berkley Gulp on Carolina rig can be used if live bait is not available. Try the New Penny color.

Inshore and Nearshore

Inshore and Nearshore you should catch bluefish, red drum, and Spanish mackerel. Live mullet or menhaden will be the bait of choice. Try a small gold Clark  spoon when trolling for blues and Spanish. Some mahi-mahi will be caught past the 10 mile mark, try Red and Black or Green colored lures when trolling.

Offshore

Offshore boats will catch blue marlin, mahi-mahi, sailfish, white marlin, and yellowfin. If trolling, try Blue/White, Pink, or Blue/Pink colored lures. We suggest running ballyhoo with Islanders or Jags in one of the colors above.

Good luck and let us know what you catch!
