Spring fishing is just around the corner!

WOW! Spring has started for me. 1st weekend in March found me at the Scarborough Maine Cabelas teaching kids how to tie saltwater flies. The Maine Charter Boat Captains Association does this every year since Cabelas opened. Great fun and lots of happy kids!
The next weekend I was at The Eastern Maine Sportsman Show in Orono, Maine. This is the oldest sportsman show in Maine ( over 75 years ). For the last eight years I've given two seminars at the show. Fishing the Penobscot River and saltwater fishing on Penobscot Bay and beyond. I teach folks how to become better smallmouth fishermen on the river and also the various opportunities on the salt, including tuna and shark!  New this year was a seminar on how to get into custom rod building. I gave a quick lesson on equipment and techniques so anglers can build their own . I've built around 75 various rods ( spin, fly and conventional) so it was fun to pass on some knowledge.

Next up is LL Beans spring weekend . I'll be manning a table for the charter capts. at that event!

And to cap off a fun March I'll be heading for Grand Lake Stream the weekend before Monday April 1st  for my annual trip to my buddy Joe Blooms camp for a weekend of food, cigars, good bourbon and fly fishing bright and early opening day.
