Fishing Report: East and West Matagorda Bay

Spring is here and the fish are getting more shallow each day.  Waders are doing great as they wade the shorelines in East and West Matagorda Bay. Top waters and plastics are accounting for most fish.  Throwing the ED Lure (broken-back) has been awesome in the gut of most bayous. Fish are also being caught drifting in East Bay when the weather allows you to do that. The new Mansfield Margarita ball tail by Kelley Wigglers has been super with an 1/8 oz. lead head In shallow water. Live bait is plentiful, but the shrimp are big and hard to keep on a small treble hook sometimes.  Flounder are showing up in the bayous as well.  Still catching some great redfish in the river, but it is a grind to catch a limit.
