Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
Offshore & Near Shore
The oversized redfish have been the hot bite for fishermen fishing live bait around inshore structure or channels in 25 feet of water or deeper. Drift fishing until one is caught and then circle around and target that area for more action. The deeper areas off Windmark Beach are other locations the bull reds have been caught. The Car Bodies have given up some nice flounder. Live bait on a jig head bounced on the bottom will entice a slab to bite.
St Joe Bay
Not many reports coming from the bay. Most boat fishermen are utilizing the calm seas to fish in more open water around the Car Bodies. The sheepshead bite in the canal has tapered off, but bluefish have taken up the slack. Speckled trout fishermen are complaining the blues are cutting their hooked trout in half before the fishermen can boat them. A lot of short trout to the boat before one keeper is put in the live box. Live shrimp are being used.
Surf/Shore
Speckled trout are still being caught in the boat channel at St Joe Marina early morning and late evening. DOA shrimp is the locals’ favorite go-to bait. Whiting is the main bite in the surf off Cape San Blas, with an occasional pompano to keep things interesting.
