Galveston Bay Fishing has been great this past week. Despite unusual high winds for May - we have had very successful trips. Jetty Trips, Galveston Bay Fishing Trips, Back Bayou / Marsh trips and even flounder gigging has had some success.
Our Galveston Jetty trips have been producing some very Big Redfish along with some slot reds mixed in as well. The Spanish Mackeral have been good as well when the clear water is in. Sheepshead, Jack Crevelle, and allot of SHARKS! From Atlantic Sharpnose, Bonnetheads, Black Tips and Spinners - The Sharks are here in Galveston. There have also been quite a few Ling caught close in at the Galveston Jetties! Bait of choice on the Galveston Jetty Fishing Trips have been live shrimp on a #1 hook, with enough weight to keep the bait in the strike zone depending on currents. Fresh Shad on bottom is a sure bet to hook into a Galveston Shark or a Monster Bull Redfish !
For those not wanting to take the chance on sea sickness with the rougher seas on a Galveston Jetty Trip, Our Bay / Marsh trips have been producing good numbers of redfish, flounder, sheepshead and some speckled trout mixed in as well. Even in 25 mph winds a Galveston Bay / Marsh Fishing trip -we can find refuge and make a great day of fishing in less than ideal conditions. Live shrimp under popping corks have been the ticket on these trips.
We have also been able to have some success on our flounder gigging trips, though the winds and high tides play even a larger roll on success level of these trips. We have had some of our trips where only a handful of fish are being seen - but along with those we have also put together some very successful trips as well. Timing is everything right now with the conditions Mother Nature is dealing us. We do promise to work our tail off to make your trip as successful as possible.
