Easter Fishing Report
Just looking at the predicted weather outcome for this long weekend & quite honestly I don’t remember an Easter break ever looking so good. Dropping seas, next to no wind, very little rain & a fair whack of sunshine are all upon us this period & with the reports coming in at the moment there’s some great fishing going on including some terrific captures during the week. Kyle Windsor was out chasing snapper in 25 fathoms when a ripper pearl perch snavelled his pilchard bait & after a quick fight the fish was boated & on ice. Some decent snapper have also been landed from our inshore reefs this week with solid kingfish to 103cm also on the chew.
Sydney Harbour is clearing up after the recent rain, mack tuna, bonito, salmon & tailor have all been trolled up in Middle Harbour during the week so get the Rapala 15’s & 20’s out and pull them anywhere from Dobroyd Head to Bantry bay as some good fish have been taken in this zone. Kingfish are on the move around the harbour and livebait of squid & yakkas are accessible in most local bait gathering areas. More hairtail have been caught through the week on soft plastics, baits & vibes, reports from Manly through to The Spit have been where to fish for these guys, recognizing horizontal lines on the sounder screen will put you of the top of these sabre toothed bumper bars.
The beaches are turning it on at the moment, tailor & salmon are being taken on metal lures cast beyond the breakers in low light times while the king beachworms purchased here in the shop have been landing some cracker whiting and bream fishing the close in gutters at Curl Curl, Dee Why & Manly. After dark the whalers are still causing headaches for the mulloway fishermen but are providing some exciting fishing on quieter nights, most beaches are experiencing these visitors after dark.
As the swell drops the ocean rock platforms will become more accessible and are very worth a lure toss for bonito, salmon & tailor. Live baiting is worth the effort this weekend while the wind is down just remember to stay safe at all times. Good luck & good fishing and Happy Easter everybody.
