Guntersville FIshing Charter July 8th Weiss lake bass fishing report
The oldest misconception in fishing is that fish go deep when it's hot or when it's cold. The water temp is in the 90s and the fish are shallow. The water willow bite is excellent early morning and late evening. Shady banks are excellent all day long. Docks and brush are probably the best way to win a tournament at the moment. Our best baits have been a swimjig in the grass and flipping a creature bait around docks. As the days get shorter more and more fish will move shallow and position themselves strategically for the fall shad migration. Warm weather, the new moon and longer days have moved the bass into predictable areas. This week we averaged 40 bass a day with every tenth fish being about 5 pounds. Our best baits were a freeloader, a jig and a ratltrap. Fish are in all 3 stages...

The new moon, longer days and warming water are secondary factors pushing bass up into the bedding areas. The primary factor is the number of days since they spawned last year. There are tons of small fish up shallow and some big ones. Most of the...

With drought conditions lingering over the southeastern United states the recent rains are a welcomed sight. Guntersville lake fishes much better when water is moving through the system and there is some color in the water. I expect excellent fishi...
