We had some good shots as soon as it got dark on beautiful grade bluefin but the bite window didn’t last as long as the previous nights. Our weather is beautiful and the Eddie bomb continues to be the ticket. Ella also picked up her new personal best last night. TEAM RP

We got off to another great start this trip and enjoyed an excellent first evening of fishing! The fish weighed mostly 100 to 150 pounds with a few 40 to 60 pounders mixed in. Congratulations to Ella Luster granddaughter of long time RP Passenger Rober Deloach for catching her first ever bluefin tuna. The Eddie…

We enjoyed an epic night of bluefin tuna fishing. We stopped on good schools all day long and only managed a few fish from 120-150 pounds. Once it got dark it was game on until a little before sun up. The fish weighed 100 to 180 pounds and bit the 300 gram knife jigs and…

Great way to start the first three day of the year! We managed several beautiful grade Bluefin Tuna. Most of the fish are eating heavy knife jigs and Eddie Bombs in the dark. We see plenty of fish around in the daytime but it’s tougher to get a bite.

After a 30-year tenure aboard our vessel Captain Roy Rose has made the decision to chart a new course in his journey. Today with both affection and deepest respect we announce his departure from the R.P. family. To Captain Roy Rose we offer our sincerest best wishes for the journey ahead. May every horizon hold…

Jonathan is the BEST!after many days of nagging pranking and obnoxious beahvior the end is near and I can’t wait to get to cabo. He is the definition of juvenile and sophmoric behavior truly qualities I appreciate Not! He reminds me of more intelligent better-looking non-balding version of myself and I will miss him immensely…

Our last morning was one to remember for one angler. We were woken up early to catch bait and got lucky to catch 50-ish tubes at the cost of 3-4 yozuris per bait. It’s a good thing we put in the effort because that’s exactly what the tuna wanted. We rolled up to a bird…

Spent the day catching a few wahoo and tagging/releasing small tuna. Kevin Crow is heading up the efforts and applying tags to a bunch of 20-30 pounders. Many started the wind down process breaking down a few rigs. I’m in prep mode for the crew fish off before departing for Cabo. Stay tuned! Ghostwriter out…

Well we had an extra special event today! This was a day for Dharyl (aka BIG D). Here it goes…. Due to the Ghostwriter’s success yesterday morning about half of the group was up at 2:30 am including Big D. The current was ripping and it was non-stop action for the wrong kind (sharks). Knife…

This is a lesson in perseverance paying off. I wake up each morning at 2:30 to check on the conditions and usually sacrifice a PL68 to the sharks. This morning’s conditions looked different. The sharks were outside the light halo and skipjack were swimming through and a couple of puffers swam by. So… I dropped…

The Bank goes Nuts Things changed from good to Nuts at the Bank! We anchored up and immediately started hooking fish. John Yamate gave a clinic on bait fish while the kite was going off. Wahoo and tuna were constantly on the hook then flying over the rail. Combine great fishing with an all day…

The winner of the Penn 20 VISX for the first tuna over 200 on bait should have been Tom Dow but was disqualified for catching his 201#er without a connected fishing reel. The story goes like this… Tom was fishing a sardine during another rapid fire kite sequence when he hooked a nice fish. He…

Roy and crew delivered again today with an afternoon bite to remember. Every flyer that went out lasted only a few minutes with a beautiful grade of tuna. One after another after another with Capt Roy yelling… NEXT! Captain and crew handled the controlled chaos with great care. We had 3-4 fish hooked constantly for…

We had a fun day of wahoo fishing with aggressive toothy fish biting throughout the day. It kept us occupied most of the day and left only a couple hours to test out the tuna in the late afternoon. John Nutt took a few minutes from fixing Shannon’s gear to casually land today’s big fish …

We never saw anything to stop on bluefin wise so we played right through. We had a tackle seminar in the morning and spent the rest of the day making kite leaders top shots wiring up lures and putting gear together. Tomorrow we will make a pass by outer bank at the rocks to see…
