Capt Dave reports a tougher day than we have been seeing on the Viking Starship. We had mixed size Porgies with Sea Bass mixed in. There were limits of keeper Sea Bass with no problem. Anglers  also caught a couple of keeper Cod Pollock and Fluke with Mackerel everywhere. So all in all in was […]

It was back in the kayak for me today in some protected water. The fish were around in good numbers. Unweighted Fin S fish did the trick!

Capt Dave reports good fishing on the Viking Starship. It was a very slow start inshore today so we headed out to the deeper water. We fished in 85 feet of water and the Big Porgies bit very well then we had to go further to find the Sea Bass. They were mixed size and […]

Super Strike Bullet Heavy Stubby Needlefish- 2 1/2 oz.  In the last two days my son Jon and I have landed good numbers of decent fish.  These have been mostly slots with even some over slots. We've been catching them on a Super Strike Bullet Heavy Stubby Needlefish.  It has been the only plug in our bags that will punch out a long distance in thes...

Capt Dave reports a tougher day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. Despite today being one of the better day condition wise than the past few days fishing was tough in the dirty water that was stirred up from the ground swell. We started off a bit closer to the island and had a […]

Capt Dave reports a pretty good day of fishing today in Block Island on the Viking Starship. This morning we started off anchored close to the island and had very good fishing with some very nice sized Porgies with a few SeaBass in the mix. We didn’t see many small fish today mostly everything that […]

Capt Dave reports a halfway decent day of fishing today in Block Island on the Viking Starship. Despite poor weather conditions with high winds we still got some nice fish today. This morning was the best pick of fish we had. At first drop we had pretty decent action with some nicer Porgies and a […]

The Yo-Zuri Hydro Pencil has been a hot producer in the last two evenings. In the beginning of the week jigs ruled the places I was fishing. Big bucktail jigs small bucks off a float and NLBN paddle tails all were red hot. But that place where jigs ruled suddenly went dry for me so I moved to a new location. I found fish and lots of them in my n...

Capt Dave reports a half-way decent day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. We struggled a little bit with the weather today not being able to fish in most of the spots we wanted to but we did still get into some calmer areas that had good action. We saw some nice sized Porgies […]

Captain JR reports a successful TNT trip on the Viking Star. Despite the approaching weather we were able to squeeze in two days and a night out at the eastern canyons. The tile fishing wasn’t as hot and heavy as our last trip but still had a decent pick of tiles and other assorted bottom […]

The float and jig has been my best lure to use  this week. It has hooked big numbers of stripers from slots to over slots. The bait has arrived the stripers are on their tails and the surf is up! What could be better? Add to that some rough white water surf and you have the recipe for outstanding fishing. This has been a banner week for me with...

Capt Dave reports good fishing on the Viking Starship. We began the trip up close to Block Island and had a good mixed bag of quality Porgies and mixed size Sea Bass. When the tide stopped running hard we headed to the west side of the island and it was a bail job of really […]

Capt Dave reports a decent day on the Viking Starship. We explored close to the beach today and had very good fishing. There was real quality with big Porgies and Sea Bass. It was a tie for the pool today with 2 3/4 lb Porgies between Safet Kavaceic and Staton Mighty from Brooklyn. We will […]

Striper fishing lit up yesterday. Lots of bait has moved in and stripers of all sizes are on them.  Fall fishing has really taken a turn for the better.  Yesterday I found big schools of bait along the oceanfront moving about a quarter of a mile off shore.  A fall run was underway as big flocks of birds were diving and fish were breaking for bait....

Capt Dave reports a pretty decent day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. We headed to the east right off the bat this morning and had some issues with the tide. That strong full moon tide was running hard and seemed to bring back in the small SeaBass as we had to pick through […]

This trip was a gift. The weather was warm like a summer’s day but with Labor Day two weeks behind us it felt better than usual. The mood on board was sweet and grateful. We found dolphins (Tamanend’s bottlenose) early and then spent time with two juvenile humpback whales within a few miles from shore. […]

Captain Carl reports another slower night on the Bass boat. We caught and released a couple GIANT Striped Bass in the 30-50 lb range and a few Blues showing definite signs of the Fall Run beginning. We are gonna give it another go tonight! The pool winner went to Doug Keller from Southampton NY.

Capt Dave reports good fishing on the Viking Starship today. It was a tough start this morning with dogfish around. As the day went on the dogfish let up and we ended up having a mix of Porgies and a lot of Sea Bass. Later on we found the Porgies better still with Sea Bass […]

Captain Dave report another great day of Porgy fishing on the Viking Starship today. We saw a lot of action today between Porgies and SeaBass with some beautiful size to each. We had pretty equal showings of Porgies and SeaBass at each drop neither really biting more than the other. We also had a bunch […]

Capt Dave reports a very good day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. It was good consistent fishing from start to finish today with fish at every drop. We did make about 3-4 drops today. We definitely saw an influx of Seabass today with more anglers pulling up keeper SeaBass than Porgies. We had […]
