Capt Dave reports a much improved day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. We started off this morning just south of the lighthouse and had a good bite but the rougher conditions made for difficult fishing. We had lots of actions with medium sized Porgies but ended up making our move halfway to Block […]

Whales nearshore and offshore. Our incredible season continues!   What a day we had. The seas were flat sun was bright and the temperatures were comfortably cool. Our 1st humpback named Chive who we’d not seen in 2 years was breached within about 60 feet of our bow and was within 5 miles of […]

It was one lone striper last evening along with a bluefish.  Fishing has improved slightly though it is still way off for this time of year. The poor shore striper fishing from the summer continues but there has been a slight improvement in the last couple of days.  I'm beginning to see some small schools of bait along the oceanfront something I...

Capt Dave reports an excellent day on the Viking Starship. We started out anchored east of the lighthouse fishing the rock piles. Fishing for Porgies was as good as it gets with double and triple headers! Once the tide started running fishing slowed down on the anchor so we put in a couple drifts but […]

Capt Dave reports a pretty good day of fishing this Labor Day Monday on the Viking Starship. We started our morning off down the beach to get out of that New Moon tide and had some good action for about an hour. We moved on back to the lighthouse and had a nice mix both […]

Capt Mike reports a very nice morning of fishing on the Viking Starlite. The trip started off with a steady Porgy and Sea bass bite. We saw a lot of Porgies in the jumbo size. We did manage a couple keeper Fluke this morning although their seemed to be more short Fluke than keepers today. […]

The fluking was also much improved as we found some very nice specimens to keep the nets busy. All happy anglers today! The pool winner […]

Capt Dave reports another pretty good day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. We started our morning down the beach to get out of the new moon tide and had some pretty good action with a steady pick of mixed sized Porgies. We worked this area for a couple hours before venturing offshore and […]

Another Sunday on the ocean with lots of whales!   We keep finding whales! Sunday September 1 2024 was no exception. The weather was a bit cloudy but we had a full vessel and we headed out. Early on shortly after we pass by the lighthouse we encountered a small group of Tamenend’s bottlenose dolphins. […]

Capt Mike reports another good afternoon of fishing on the Viking Star. We started the afternoon off with a couple nice drifts with big Sea bass and Porgies.   Things slowed mid trip as the tide slaked off but it did begin to pick up again towards the end as we finished off with some […]

Captain JR reports a good day on the Viking Starlite. It would have been an awesome day but the sea bass fishing was so good it hindered our fluke hunt. Excellent and nonstop sea bass fishing EVERYWHERE. The bait wasn’t on the hooks long enough to give the fluke a chance to bite. But couldn’t […]

We started our morning down the beach Porgy fishing and has some good action with mixed sized fish. As the tide started coming in heavy we […]

Capt Mike reports a very good morning of fishing on the Viking Star. Fishing started off hot from the get-go with a mixed bag of jumbo Porgies Sea bass and several keeper Fluke in the buckets. As the trip carried on we lost the tide and the short Sea bass took over catching plenty of […]

For the last trip of August the whales (and waves) had us working a bit harder than usual reminding us of the changing seasons and the fortunes previously bestowed upon us throughout this summer. We headed south towards the general area where the humpbacks have previously been encountered but there were no whales to be […]

Labor Day weekend is here and there are sure to be a lot of fishermen out and about along the oceanfront. If you are fishing from shore the outlook is poor.  From a boat you have a much better chance at finding something although that action is also slow. We are coming off the worst year of striper fishing in the summer from shore in DECADES here...

Capt JR reports a decent afternoon onboard the Viking Star. We had similar fishing to what we had this morning with good action for most the trip. Sea bass Porgies and Fluke kept anglers busy and we definitely had a few keeper Fluke to toss in the buckets. The pool winner was Tate Ghatak from Jersey […]

Captain Dave report another great day of Porgy fishing on the Viking Starship today. We saw a lot of action today between Porgies and SeaBass with some beautiful size to each. We had pretty equal showings of Porgies and SeaBass at each drop neither really biting more than the other. We also had a bunch […]

Capt Dave reports a very good day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. It was good consistent fishing from start to finish today with fish at every drop. We did make about 3-4 drops today.
