Wow, what an incredible second half of December we’ve had in Miami. The bay has been firing on all cylinders and with the exception of the last couple days of the month it’s been relatively warm. Although the air temperature has been warm, the water temperatures have been cooling and that has caused permit to stack up as well as Pompano mackerel Snapper jacks tarpon, just about everything has been devouring anything thrown at them. The highlight of the last two weeks of December has been permit on almost every single trip and we’ve also been hooking Tarpon in the 100 pound class with pretty good frequency. As we move into 2026 January should continue this incredible fishing with plenty of action for everyone. On a number of occasions I’ve had trips where clients just wanted to catch a lot of species and the yellow jacks have been out in full force and mixed in with them have been big Porgies, mutton snappers, yellow tail snappers and some mackerels. Oh how can I forget, bone fishing has been pretty solid as well. You know it’s been an incredible month when I left bonefish for last. I hope you guys had a great New Year’s and I wish you guys the best this coming year!
