Gold Coast Fishing

Gold Coast Fishing

The Gold Coast in Australia lives up to its name. This city is part of Queensland, and its name is easy to understand. With a position on the Pacific Ocean, the Gold Coast has sunny weather and warm temperatures that make it perfect for year-round recreation. The beaches offer all sorts of outdoor pastimes, and the area attracts the best surfers from around the world. These attractions are impressive, but the opportunities for Gold Coast fishing can be just as appealing.

The best place to start with Gold Coast fishing is offshore. So much of the culture of the area developed from seafaring pastimes, and deep-sea fishing is definitely a part of that. The best places to go for good access to deep-sea fish are the nearby reefs. Here, it is possible to reel in species like Mahi-mahi, Spanish Mackerel, and Wahoo. There is also good bill fishing with Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, and Sailfish.

Inshore fishing Gold Coast bring many angling opportunities. You might catch Barramundi, Bluefish (Tailor), Bream, Cobia, Cod, Dusky Flathead, Mulloway, Snapper, or Whiting. The fishing here is particularly vibrant during the winter season, but fish can be caught all year long.

You could even try freshwater fishing in the Gold Coast. Many native Australian species can be caught at Hinze Dam. Your hauls here could include everything from Australian Bass to Mary River Cod. Other possible waterways are the Gold Coast Seaway, Tallebudgera Creek and Coomera River.
