Lake Eufaula Fishing

Lake Eufaula Fishing

Nicknamed Big Bass Capital of the World, Lake Eufaula is a great location for bass fishing. Lake Eufaula is a 46,000-acre lake on the state line between Alabama and Georgia. It is also known as Walter F. George Lake. The Alabama state legislature chose to call it Lake Eufaula in 1963, so most of the locals use this name. There are boat ramps and public fishing piers at Lake Eufaula. The northern section of the lake is part of Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge and provides great fishing much of the year.

Largemouth Bass and Spotted Bass are two of the most popular species you could target. Lake Eufaula fishing also often delivers Black Crappie and Catfish. During your stay in the area, you may want to take a picture with the bass statue, which was constructed in honor of the lake being dubbed Big Bass Capital of the World. Some people call the fish "Manny," named after Tom Mann who is a respected angler from Eufaula and founder of a popular line of fishing lures primarily focused on bass.

A record 16.5-pound Largemouth Bass was caught at Lake Eufaula in 1980. Another record catch here was a 111-pound Blue Catfish in 2020. Tim Trone was fishing in a deep corner using cut bream as bait when he snagged the Blue Catfish. It broke the Georgia state record at the time. In addition to Blue Catfish, you could catch Channel and Flathead varieties during your Lake Eufaula fishing trip.
