Marathon Fishing

Marathon Fishing

Marathon is a favorite destination of many anglers. With excellent flats and backcountry fishing, plentiful reefs and wrecks, and close proximity to the blue waters of the Gulf Stream, Marathon provides many opportunities to catch a large variety of different species of fish.

Fishing the inshore waters of Marathon for Tarpon is a popular activity for many fishermen. There is also lots of Black Drum, Bonefish, Mangrove Snapper, Permit, Pompano, Redfish, Sheepshead, Snook, and Speckled Trout on the flats and backcountry waters.

Bottom fishing the many reefs and shipwrecks around Marathon can produce lots of different species of Grouper and Snapper. There is also good Amberjack, Barracuda, Cobia, King Mackerel, and Sharks fishing most of the year.

Fishing the offshore waters of Marathon is known for the excellent billfishing, including Sailfish, Blue Marlin, and Swordfish. There is also lots of Dolphinfish (Mahi-mahi) much of the year, as well as Wahoo.
