I read this morning that Maine falls have gotten warmer over the last twenty or so years according to weather records. I don’t have any data but from where I sit that is the case. If you have nothing to do and reach back a long way you will see me writing about a few warm days in October in the north Maine Woods.

In July of 2022 I was surprised to see my 4 Runner in the image on Google Maps. Today I checked the link I send to Thomaston harbor and hard to imagine but there is my 4 Runner and boat trailer in the parking lot. Surprise again!

A rainy morning today has me at my desk catching up on office work. Hard to imagine but the summer season is half gone! We had a hot spell that made early afternoons uncomfortable and likely will have another. But as sure as the sun is rising a little later every day we are headed toward my favorite time of the year.

Here we are in the middle of our summer season here in Maine. The weather has been as you would expect warm inland (even hot at times) and much cooler on the saltwater. That point was made yesterday with a family from North Carolina on a Scenic Boat trip.

This this morning my client had good success casting surface poppers for stripers. The interesting part of the morning came well after sun up when we came on this group of seals working cooperatively to trap a school of pogies. It's important to stay hydrated on our trips. Being outside in the sun and wind can be dehydrating which can make a morning on the water less enjoyable. Many years ago I started providing reusable water bottles with the Maine Outdoors logo. This served two purposes: helping to keep you hydrated and reducing the use of disposable plastic bottles.

I was pleased to be home mowing the lawn Saturday afternoon when I saw a thunderstorm building toward Camden and Rockland. We've had a few thundershowers in the last week and at least twice they moved east to west eventually soaking us here in Union. I spent the last couple of mornings doing photo shoots for images that will be used to promote more folks getting into fishing. Let me report that it was quite hot on the water especially on Tuesday and that I enjoyed it.
