Despite all the madness from 2020 we had a great season of fishing with great weather. For those of you who came to fish with me I'm grateful for your business and happy to provide you with an escape and a sport that wasn't actually cancelled this year. As we wait impatiently through winter to be able to fish the big water again we hope you have a...

Around the area water is hovering around the mid to low 60's but even with the stable warm weather on the way expect the shorter nights to start dropping water temps.  Weeds are still thick and water levels are around average for this time of year. Baitfish are still very plentiful since many of them hatched late. Panfish have begun to transition...

Hey Gang  Water levels are a bit higher than they have been and water temps are in the low to mid 70's. Weeds are a bit more sparse than usual for this time of year the crayfish molt is wrapping up and the baitfish are on the move. The next three weeks are setting up for some great action. Panfish continues to be the hot bite in the area but the a...

Hey gang Lots going on so let's get right to it. First off the crayfish molt is winding up. Lots of people were on some fish but then those fish got scarce. What happened of course is the late summer molt where the soft shells get on the shallow rocks and the feeding frenzy breaks out. Typically when a deep bite cools off quickly like that fish...

The end run of summer begins and it is time to get on the water.  As we move into August you'll find fish in the traditional summer places but watch for them to have periods of time where they feed actively around rock bars and transition areas. The changes in the photocycle and the length of day are signals to the fish to start charging up and you...

Hey gang I hope you are all well. I know I haven't been quite as regular with reports as in the past   but thanks to those of you who reach out about the timeline for updates. It is nice to know I'm not talking to empty space here. This blog started when I was heavily involved with Musky Mike's and guiding full time...but life has moved on some fr...

Coho salmon seem to be here in full force on Lake Michigan out of Port Washington. If you want to fill a cooler up with fish now is a good time to get out on the lake. Most weekends are full but there are some weekday openings. Looking forward to fishing with you soon!

It was a very busy summer aboard the Outcast and now unfortunately or charter fishing season out of Port Washington has come to an end. Overall fishing out of Port Washington was decent for most of the summer however there were many days where we really had to work hard to get fish. Thank you to all those that fished aboard the Outcast this past se...

It was mostly a Reaper Magnum Spoon bite the last several days. with a few fish on silver 8 inch flasher and green Howie flies. The pattern for me yesterday was deeper presentation on 300 copper or downriggers 100 down. A mixed bag of Coho Rainbow and Lake Trout added to the catch.

Lake Michigan Salmon Fishing Report 6/24/2019 Hello all thank you for reading my reports. Joe Laura and Jonathan Wolf from Mansfield Texas had fair weather and a multi species catch on a beautiful day on Lake Michigan. I enjoyed the opportunity to fish with them.

The colder spring lead to a slower than normal start to the Port Washington Charter fishing season. In May we were targeting lake trout due to the cooler than normal water temps and lack of kings and coho salmon. Today however we finally had a decent morning with mostly king salmon and and a couple of coho salmon. With the water warming up numbers...

We have definitely turned the corner and have seen a major improvement in angling success. The ups and downs of past weeks are behind us and good weather and lake conditions will fill the cooler in the future.

I see improvement as we progressed through the week. The water is warming up and there is pods of forage from 70 feet of water to shore. The recent changes has brought some Chinooks and Coho in.
