I’ve fished all my life. I mainly fished freshwater the first half of my life, and now primarily saltwater. Regardless of where you fish, there are many things you can do before each trip to be better prepared and fish smarter.
Before I started Fishing Status, I would have to visit many different websites to get the latest fishing reports, spots, weather, etc. for my area, just to get an idea of what I might catch and when to go. The main reason I started Fishing Status was for my own database of the latest fishing information to have at my fingertips. Over the last couple of months, I have been working hard to provide you with a single interface to view your local fishing forecast and all of the latest info within 50 miles of your target area.
To date, you now have access to the following from the Home page:
Based on actual fishing reports from captains and users in your area, the Fishing Status algorithm computes the percentage chance you have of catching specific species of fish. With the ability to add additional information about the conditions of the area, we have used a scientific formula to recommended colors and lures that target your local species of fish.
Here is a video of how it works:
Does it work?
It does for me!
Ready to give it a try?
Go here and click the Load button for your target area:
If you do not have much information for your area, please contribute and add reports and spots to improve local information.
Over the next few months, we will be adding many new features, including more lures and species to our database, wind and wave data, and more.
If you have any suggestions, please let us know!

Have you considered offering solunar calculations? Another handy thing would be links to fish regs in the state you are in.

Dan,The Prediction (Best times), is using solunar calendar as part of the algorithm. We have many other variables, but the initial part of the algorithm used for the prediction is based on solunar calendar events. We looked at the regulations before. I agree it would be handy. However, they are constantly changing each year, and the location (URL) is never the same per state. For example, NC has changed the regulations several times this year for Black Sea Bass. Each time, there is a new PDF with different name associated to it. The old PDF would be out of date and someone would be pissed if they looked at the old regs thinking they were new regs and harvested an illegal fish. We are constantly having to update where you get the license per state, already. The same would apply for regulations, but even more often. I will look into a way that we can maybe alert FS when there is an update to the regulations, but I can't promise anything soon.

I think the layout is very user friendly. Pretty straightforward thing to use and seems very accurate. Have caught fish at times I would have never guessed to go fishing. Caught my limit of speckled trout many times using this feature.

WHunt,Thank you. We will be updating charts and graphics soon, so appearance will be better as well. That's awesome. I have been adding lots of localization filters. The more people post new reports and spots, the results and accuracy of the forecast will improve. Relogin and you will have Pro access.

This seems like a great app for salt water fisherman but I don't find it as useful for freshwater. I live in Maryland near the upper potomac. There are hardly any updates for that area. Or maybe I just dont know what I'm doing on this app. I am new to it. Perhaps you can help me.
