Wahoo, Mahi, Blackfin, and Skipjack off Hatteras

On Saturday, we went towards Monitor Buoy and 230 Rocks. We tried high speed trolling without success. We found a nice temperature change and started setting out the lines. We got the shotgun, longs, and had just set out the shorts, when the blue and silver bait shower with a sea wasp from Eye Catcher Lures got hit. After a few acrobatic jumps, a nice sized Mahi was reeled in.

I don't think we managed to get all of the lines in the water for the next hour. It was solid actions with nice sized slingers and gaffers. We also caught a couple of blackfin and skipjack tuna on supra dart tuna rigs.

The surprise for the day was a 40#  Wahoo that hit the baitshower and sea wasp. We were lucky because we had mono leader instead of wire. Most bites came from dink baits and blue/white lures till 11 AM, when the bite died.

We ended up with a 40# wahoo, 13 dolphin (mahi), a couple of blackfin, a skipjack, and false albacore.
