Fishing Fort Lauderdale with Topshotfishing and Capt. Zsak

Chris and Teaa Marshall from Kentucky were vacationing here in Fort Lauderdale, combining a business trip with pleasure.  They decided to charter the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  Winds were out of the east at 10 mph, seas running 2-3 ft., temperatures in the mid 80’s with blue skies.

Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock, we put lines in the water north of the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale located in 120 ft. of water 1.8 miles from shore.  We started off trolling with two #8 plainers down and three Ballyhoo surface baits.  We had blue waters pushed into 80 ft. of water due to the last couple of days of east winds.  As I made my first pass by the sea buoy in 145 ft. of water, the plainer rod screamed line off of the reel.  The rod tip bounced erratically up and down – Was this a Wahoo or did the line of the plainer rod get wrapped around a submerged lobster trap marker???  Chris was our angler and after a fifteen-minute battle, we saw the vertical stripe of a good sized Wahoo.  Once the plainer hit the rod tip, Dave, our mate, started wiring in the trace.  Only 80 feet of line to go – as Dave had a tug of war with line coming in and going out – finally Dave had the leader in his hand and gaffed the Wahoo, as the razor sharp teeth were snapping.  Once the fish was in the cockpit, all hell broke loose as the fish thrashed around.  After calming down, we weighed the Wahoo, and it weighed 39 lbs.

From there we trolled around as Teaa and Chris took turns bringing in a total of five Kingfish, one Tuna and one Bonito.

With a good catch of fish in the box, it was time to head back from our deep sea fishing charter to the Bahia Mar Dock, located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.  The anglers enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock in the a/c salon.
