April 2nd 2019 – I waited till today to write the April inshore Key West fishing report and forecast so you all would not try and read into any April fools jokes. The weather these last few days has been remarkable. Traditionally I am usually talking about how sucky the East winds have been. This week looks like great weather for backcountry inshore fishing. The Backcountry Fishing Report Barracuda Caught on board our Yellowfin 24 Tower boat with Capt. Tommy Z of Dream Catcher Charters. Since the last full moon on the 20th of March things have been pretty much status quo for the seasonal changes and fishery we are used to seeing here in Key West.. As I mentioned in my tarpon fishing report the tarpon are around and eating pretty well. We had a bit of a cool snap that slowed things a little but the bite rebounded quickly. Along with a good tarpon bite our fishing guides have been moving around finding some rod bending excitement with Jacks in the basins and channels with barracudas up on the flats to round out a nice day of catching Flats fishing has been really good for this time of [...]
