Bull Shoals Lake Fishing

Bull Shoals Lake Fishing

Bull Shoals Lake is a 71,240 acre reservoir, with 1,050 miles of shoreline, and located about 10 miles west of Mountain Home, Arkansas. Construction of the dam on the White River for Bull Shoals Lake started in June of 1947 and was completed by July 1951. Bull Shoals Lake is known for its excellent Largemouth Bass fishing, with some weighing up to 12 pounds have been caught. There are also lots of Hybrid, Smallmouth, Spotted, Striped (Striper), and White Bass. Crankbaits, jigs, plastic worms, and spinner baits are common lures to use here for bass. .

Other species for Bull Shoals Lake include lots of Walleye that are caught on jigs, slow trolled crankbaits, and live bait. There is also excellent Crappie fishing on the many artificial reefs/fish attractors and brush piles that have been added by the government and privately. .

Below the dam, the White River has gained a national following among trout fishermen who target the many Brown, Cutthroat, and Rainbow Trout in the waters. A large federal fish hatchery is close by that regularly stocks the river with more trout. .
