Panama City Beach Fishing

Panama City Beach Fishing

Panama City Beach is located on Florida’s panhandle. Not only are there long sections of beach to enjoy, but the sugary sands provide a unique experience for beachgoers. Panama City Beach is known around the country as the perfect spring break destination. While many people like to sunbathe or hit up the nightlife, there are other things to do in Panama City Beach. You might be surprised to find out that Panama City Beach fishing is especially noteworthy.

With sweeping views of the Gulf of Mexico, Panama City Beach fishing is renowned for its saltwater offerings. Although you can find a lot of distinctive species, the most notable catch is usually Red Snapper. In fact, this is one of the premier sites for Red Snapper in the world. There is also good Mangrove and Vermilion Snapper fishing on the nearshore reefs.

There are numerous artificial and natural reefs in the area, and they are all teeming with life. If you give these locations a go, you can find wonderful populations of Grouper, Triggerfish and King Mackerel. There are also many species of sharks that frequent this area to make your adventure even more exciting. Other options for offshore fishing can be found in the deeper waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Spectacular hauls of Wahoo, Blackfin Tuna and Yellowfin Tuna are possible. For Blue Marlin, just go a little farther out. This species can be found beyond the 100-fathom line.

Finally, you can catch plenty of fish closer to home. Inshore Panama City Beach fishing is also a year-round sport. From these locations, anglers can do their best with Bluefish, Flounder, Pompano, Sheepshead, and Spanish mackerel. The local populations of Cobia are also quite good, and in the early fall, you might even reel in Tarpon. To catch Crappie, Bluegill, Largemouth Bass or other freshwater fish, local anglers like Deer Point Lake or Frank Brown’s Park.
