The fishing opener was a pretty quiet one compared to most.  Very few anglers were out on the south end of the lake. From what reports I heard the majority went to the north end sand.  The “catching” was pretty slow for most and the best reports were after dark.  With the full moon those […] The post May 15th 2022 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fi...

Happy Mothers Day to the Mom’s out there!  The ice was “officially” declared out on May 2nd. But there was a large area of ice/slush on the SW corner of the lake until prior to this weekend. As the ice went out with the changes in wind direction a few times the wooden blocking that was […] The post May 8th 2022 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fishi...

The ice definitely made it’s move this past week.  In some areas around the lake it really piled. Fortunately for most there was not major damage to homes as the ice was pretty crumbly as it piled up.  Not like the thicker sheets that had moved in some areas the week before.  Some ice piles […] The post May 1st 2022 first appeared on Lyback's Ice...

This past week the weather took it’s toll on the ice. The warmer winds and rain took it down quite a bit. Midweek after a heavy rain it turned white meaning the rain went all the way thru and it was completely honeycombed.  The remaining aerated ice was still giving it buoyancy.  Yesterday’s rain […] The post 4/24/22 first appeared on Lyback's Ice...

Happy Easter Sunday!  This morning the temp up here was 19 degrees. The last few days it has been that way and the ice is really not doing much as far as melting at all. I’ve had to make a few trips to Brainerd this week for stuff for the barn/office and made it a […] The post April 17th 2022 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fishing.

Yesterday was my last trip out on the ice for the 21-22 season. Richard and I went out on snowmobiles pulling sleds and ran thru the areas we go to one more time to pick up anything that was missed or buried by the snow.  (Blocks any garbage etc.).  We picked up very little which […] The post April 10th 2022 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fishing.

It looks like after this coming week things will start to warm some and melt out on the lake. I want to make a last swing thru the areas we go to and pick up what ever was hidden under the snow over winter.  Most of everything was removed when the houses came off (including […] The post April 3rd 2022 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fishing.

The last few days we received about three inches of snow. Yesterday it got warm enough to where most of it had melted again except for on the ice. We want to get out there with snowmobiles and sleds to pick up what ever was missed when we removed houses road stakes and signs.  In […] The post March 25th 2022 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fishing.

Today will be the last day we will have our access open for the season.  It’s starting to get soft on top in the afternoons and the access is starting to erode   Frost is just starting to go out on the driveway and with the rain/snow coming this week it’s not worth it. The fishing […] The post March 20th 2022 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fishing...

Last evening we had freezing temps and it helped the conditions out on the ice.  There is not an ice depth problem as most of it is   26″-28″ up to 38″ on the roads.  It’s the water from melting snow.  It’s slowly starting to find it’s way down so in time it will be pretty […] The post March 18th 2022 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fishing.

Yesterday 3 groups of anglers went out.  2 for Tullibee and 1 for Perch. I got a chance to talk to them when they left an no one had any luck.  One person tried 25 spots with his Pan-Optic’s out in the Tullibee Hole and didn’t see a one.  (Not good news for sure) The […] The post March 17th 2022 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fishing.

Yesterday I went out an did my last plowing on the ice for the season.  I opened up about 2 miles of new roads criss-crossing the Tullibee Hole and a loop around the reefs  of Spider Island for Northern Pike.  With the warmer weather it won’t be too many more days before we’ll end up […] The post March 16th 2022 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fish...

Over the weekend a few anglers came out and tried for Perch Northern Tullibee.  Sunday as the weather warmed was when most showed up. Same story for Perch with alot being caught. But picking thru 20 or so for a 10″ keeper.  Lots of 7-8″ Perch out there now so there is some hope for […] The post March 14th 2022 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fishin...

The weather this week has been more January like than March. We’ve been below zero most mornings (almost -20) yesterday.  We’ve been making ice….  The warm-up is set to begin Sunday thru next week. I decided not to plow any more roads to different areas from the lack of interest and the snow out there […] The post March 11th 2022 first appeared on...

Not much happening out there on the lake for fishing the last couple days. a few anglers have went out for Perch and Northern Pike and Tullibee.  But no one reported back or texted me on my phone about how they did.  They get a map that has my cell number on it so they […] The post March 9th 2022 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fishing.

Not much to report out on the ice.  Some anglers went out and tried for Tullibee Perch and Northern Pike but none reported their catches so I would presume there wasn’t much going on. The snow/ice/sleet storm stayed well to our south and really didn’t do much at all up here. The weather sounds like […] The post March 6th 2022 first appeared on Lyb...

With a very few anglers out the last couple days fishing for Tullibee perch and Northern Pike I did not hear any reports from them on how the bite was.  With the sleet ice and snow coming for the weekend I am not expecting to see anyone so we will wait and see what the […] The post March 4th 2022 first appeared on Lyback's Ice Fishing.

Not much to report on the lake.  Yesterday we got the last house off and into the lot.  a couple angler left that were out in wheelhouses overnight.  They reported a pretty slow bite. I reopened the road to middle Twin Island and Froe Well Drilling from Cook MN. went out with their equipment and […] The post March 1st 2022 first appeared on Lyback...

Today as fishermen left most reported that the las 24 hours the bite started picking up and some had some action.  After over 72 hours of a high barometer (some of the highest readings I had seen all winter) I think the Walleye whether there was alot of baitfish or not they just plain had […] The post February 27th 2022 first appeared on Lyback's...

Yesterday the bite was very slow with mostly small Perch activity. The barometer has been the highest I’ve seen it all winter for about three days and it has really slowed the bite. Last evening it dropped a couple points and we’ll see if the bite improves. Tomorrow as customers leave we will start pulling […] The post February 26th 2022 first app...
