Down goes Kermit; If you like big line, big rods and a frog now is the time to come to guntersville. The Bfl super tournament is this weekend and unless somebody finds a magical school still out deep this event will definitely be won on a frog and a flipping stick. Most of my clients like to catch schooling fish this time of year but if you are wi...

Wow!!! What a day and thankfully I had a great consistent client in the boat when it happened. Yesterday we started out at daylight like always. From daylight until 10am we landed 30 with 4 big fish which is pretty much par for the course. At 10am I idled over a big crankbait hole and there were so many bass on it they started blowing up in my bu...

School is in session!!! The days are getting shorter which triggers schooling action at guntersville. One day this week I saw a football field size school of bass on top feeding. As we move into August and September some days we will have the opportunity to catch 100 bass. If you like fast paced sometimes chaotic fishing this is your chance....

It's hot out and so is the fishing at guntersville. In late summer most lakes get tough but guntersville keeps producing. In the little afternoon wildcat tournaments it's taking a 5lb average to be competitive. The stocking program has improved the fishing and the grass is as healthy as I have ever seen it. The ledge bite is the most cons...

The weather is hot and so is the fishing at guntersville. With the warmer weather and air conditioners running the TVA is generating 35000 cfs and that has the bass feeding. This week we averaged 40 bass landed on 5 hour trips and the size was excellent. We had at or near 5@20lbs every day this week. The main river ledges is where most of th...

This week we have guided everyday and the fishing has been excellent. We are averaging 30 bass landed on 5 hour trips. The size is excellent right now as most of my trips have had a 5 fish weight total around 18lbs. Out deep is where the bigger fish are and a 6xd crankbait in chartreuse/blue has been the best bait. There are also fish shallow tha...

This time of year can be really good but you have to adapt to daily changes. The first part of the week we caught about 18-19 fish a day with several nice fish mixed in. Yesterday I made a change at about 10 am and we caught big ones every cast. There are several things going on right now. The shad are starting to spawn on the mornings when we ha...

Guntersville showed out Saturday in the Alabama bass trail event. 29.55 won and there were 22 limits over twenty pounds. 40th place was almost 18 pounds. The lake is full of aquatic vegetation and the current out on the Tennesee river keeps everything active. The forecast this week is for 80 degree temperatures which should move up a b...

This week we have been guiding everyday and the fishing is phenomenal. We are averaging 30-40 fish per day but one day this week my clients landed over 100. There are groups of fish in multiple depth zones at the moment. You can catch plenty of small fish up shallow but the bigger fish are out deeper. Ratltraps, crankbaits and chatterbaits are our...

This was the week when the water temperatures reached 60 and the full moon is coming. I did 4 bass trips this week and we averaged 40 bass per day. I am catching them deep and shallow and in between. The best baits are traps, chatterbaits and we even caught some on a frog. I just spoke with my crappie guide and he had a 3 man limit of crappie 12...

Guntersville showed out yesterday at the Toyota series weighin. 30th place is 18 pounds, a dozen 20lb bags were brought to the scales and 27.9 is leading. Not to mention it was freezing cold and the wind blew 20 mph. The dominant baits were lipless crankbaits and Arigs. I just spoke to one of my guides and he has 40 keepers already this morning....
