About Westernport squid and baitfishing going well at the minute
Still plenty of quality squid in the Port for anglers after fresh baits or for a feed, with some monster about. Customers Graeme, Nick and Karlie fished along Tankerton over the long weekend chasing fresh baits for snapper, gummy and whiting. They used a mixture of silver whiting baited jigs and Shimano keimura jigs to land squid up to 2kg. The Tankerton area fished well for them and they found that the flood tide was the most productive, during the day and night.
Customers James and Mileena also went out to collect fresh baits for snapper found that similar areas along Tankerton and also around Stony Point produced the goods for them. Small pieces of pilchard fished in the berley trail got some yakkas going, and brought the squid around to have a look. Using Shimano jigs, they managed a few nice squid of around a kilo in weight.
