Went towards the point and saw lots of Boston Mackerel bait balls surrounded by acres of porpoises in 58 degree water. Search for tuna bite in the area, but no takers.
About 9 miles north of The Point and in 72.6 degree water, I watched an airborne Yellowfin Tuna hit the daisy chain Supra Dart. The reel screamed briefly before it was dropped. We had a nice hit on the WWB Spreader bar also, but it also broke loose. We heard on the radio about Swordfish's 100 pound Yellowfin they caught while we were in the area, but never found one to take home.
With the exception of a few short strikes on naked hoos, we didn't have any more action until lunch when I saw a billfish some into the spread and hit that Supra dart again and jump right towards the boat before spitting the hook. It was either a white marlin or sailfish. The last bite of the day on the troll was a small Mako Shark.
On the way back in we decided to stop by South Tower and try some jigging and bottom fishing. We caught a few spiny dogfish at first, but then started catching nice sized red drum. Unfortunately they were all greater than the slot limit and too far offshore to keep.
