Scallop season has been great in Crystal River. Our scallop count done by the Florida Wildlife Commission says we have the most plentiful waters in the state of Florida this year. From our experience so far I have to agree! Most trips with good swimmers are limiting out in just 1-2 stops. 4-5' of water has been best.
Fishing has not been bad either. Summer fishing has it's ups and downs but it has been very good as of late. Our trout bite out deep has been very good. 6-8' of water casting popping corks with soft plastics underneath. Quite a few redfish have been landed off the mangrove islands throwing shrimp on jig heads as you bounce down the bank. (Finding shrimp this time of year can be difficult) Cut mullet or ladyfish will work in a pinch.
