Last night I get a call from a guy who is in Tampa, Florida and says he wants to go fishing this morning. I was supposed to go offshore today but poor fishing and afternoon storms left my schedule open so we booked the guy in Tampa on Friday night for a half day in Virginia Beach first thing Saturday morning.
The guy drives all night and literally pulls straight into the parking lot an hour late "damn construction and storms in South Carolina". I asked him if he was ok and he had 4 teenage boys ready to catch fish so off we went. This guy is a freaking maniac. He lives in Massachusetts and wanted a break in the monotony of driving home. I asked what they wanted to catch, he says "I don't want to catch little stuff, so let's get something big." Luckily the weather held off, and the fish cooperated.
The Spanish mackerel fishing was excellent in the morning, which is a change so there's that. We saw a few cobias while we weren't even looking so there's also that. And the drum were snapping! We got a bunch, the other charters got a bunch, it was chaos but it was good to just be in the swing of it today. I haven't fished with the fleet yet this year and it was good working with everybody.
Sometimes it just all comes together. Great day of fishing with a really great group of guys and we are happy happy happy to see it. Yall be SAFE on your drive home and thank you!
I have a bunch of dates available for booking if you want to go give me a shout!
