Pike and Redfin Perch

I had the opportunity to fish Alkmaarder Lake while visiting Amsterdam with Jeroen Eijssens of JE Visgids. Jeroen is a very knowledgeable fishing guide and we tried many different methods of fishing, including, topwater, crankbaits, soft plastics, and live bait. Every method caught fish. 

We caught lots of Redfin Perch. I quit counting at some point and estimate I caught somewhere around 25-30 myself. Jeroen is very skilled and at home in these waters. He caught many more fish than I did and taught me the types of lures and patterns for catching these fish.

The first European Pike I caught was on a small crankbait, and came as a bit of surprise as I watched it attack the bait close to the boat. We caught several more Pike, with the largest ones being caught while drifting live Redfin Perch from the back of the boat.

I had such a good time and caught so many fish, I scheduled a trip with Jeroen on Friday for a day of fishing in the sea. I highly recommend him if you are visiting the area.
